Private COVID 19 Screening Test Frequent Questions

What method of testing does your lab use?

We specifically use the PCR-based NAAT – Nucleic Acid Amplification Test, otherwise known as the RT-PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test.

This is the gold standard test required by countries and airlines who require PCR-based COVID-19 testing.

What kind of SARS-CoV-2 Tests does CVM Medical Provide?

CVM Medical offers 3 different types of tests to help Corporations, Community Groups in the fight against Covid-19.

1. RT-PCR Testing. This test is accepted for international travel by governments all over the world.

2. Rapid Antigen Testing. Antigen tests are less sensitive than RT-PCR tests however they can be used to detect the presence of the virus amongst people who have a high viral load (those who are most contagious). Health Canada has approved the use of Antigen tests as a method of screening for the virus.

3. 12 Hours STAT COVID PCR Test. The Express RT-PCR is only available at select locations and is recommended for those who truly need access to rapid results.

Do you test for COVID-19 Antibodies?

No. CVM Medical does not provide antibody testing for COVID-19 infection. However, we can refer you to a lab that does perform this service.

When will I get my Covid-19 test results?

For PCR Test Results: we will send you your certificate within 36 hours for the PCR results of your test 

For Rapid Test Results: You will receive your rapid test results within around 30 minutes time.

How long does the test take?

The actual swab test itself takes about 2 minutes to complete.  The swab test is quick and easy. 

How to cancel my appointment?

We understand that travel plans can change quickly, which is why CVM offers our customers FREE cancellation at anytime without penalty. If you need to cancel or reschedule your COVID PCR or Rapid Antigen Test with CVM, you can do so anytime without charge as long as it’s before your scheduled appointment. That’s the CVM Guarantee.

To cancel or reschedule your COVID PCR or Rapid Antigen Test please contact us at 1-833-332-7007 or email help@covid-medical.ca before your scheduled appointment time to change or refund your test. If you do not show up for your appointment no refund will be available. Cancel at anytime no charge beforehand.

How does CVM Medical provide results?

CVM Medical sends results to the email address provided during your appointment booking. For personal security reasons we are not able to share your results with any other email than the one you register with at the time of booking. Please ensure your information is correct at the time of booking. If you have provided an incorrect email contact us at help@covid-medical.ca  that we may verify you through other means. 

The Test Collection

One of our professional collection specialists will collect a COVID sample with a swab from the back of your nose for your PCR test, or using a swab gently in the front part of your nose for a rapid test. The swab resembles a Q-Tip like device. This is gently inserted into one nostril to pick up any virus particles that the COVID-19 virus leave. The COVId-19 particles are found in the back part of your nasal area. 

Why? This type of swab test is more comfortable for you – our customer, and the results are more reliable and more accurate. This particular swab test reduces the chance of a false positive.

We will have you in and out in no time at all! We will ensure your comfort and safety at all times. 

The Results 

Once your COVID PCR test sample is run through our provincially approved, ISO accredited lab, you will receive your results by email. We will provide you a letter signed by our Physician Medical Director and your COVID-19 certificate to return to work, or help me your travel requirements.  Your test results can be use for purposes like travel, work and play. Your COVID negative certificate is valid for airlines, embassies, immigration and customs. If you have taken a rapid test, we will provide you with a printed copy of your rapid test result while you wait. 

Public Health Reporting 

Please note: By law, COVID-19 is a reportable disease. Legislation and regulation requires that CVM Medical notify public health officials if our accredited lab detects a positive result from your private COVID test. 

If your private COVID lab result comes back as positive, we will immediately contact you with the information that we have on file from your appointment. One of our Registered Nurses will speak to you and help you understand your results, and explain the next steps to you. 

However as a government requirement, we will share the results of your private COVID-19 test with your local health authority, including your contact information. This is required by law. 

Emergency/STAT/Urgent Testing

If you require an emergency, urgent or STAT private COVID-19 test for work, travel or other reasons that fall outside of public health, please contact us at 1-833-332-7007 or email help@covid-medical.ca with the subject line: URGENT/STAT Test

Our Customer Service Representatives will create an emergency appointment for you at one of our clinic locations and our COVID testing team will arrange space whether or not our clinic is full that day – we will get you in on an emergency basis, or if you prefer, we will organize one of our sample collection technicians to visit you at your location to collect your private COVID test for travel or work.

STAT/Emergency/RUSH COVID-19 test requires us to interrupt our normal COVID-19 private lab processing runs and as such, additional fees apply for an emergency test run. a Customer Service Representative will discuss these fees with you.

Your Information

CVM Medical must collect your contact information in order to properly administer your private lab, asymptomatic COVID-19 test. CVM Medical will only collect as much information as we need in order to contact you to provide your COVID test certificate.    With the lab results, you can return to work,  meet travel obligations, or play freely.

We will not collect any specific medical information from you, and we will never share your information with anyone except as required by law, or as needed (such as with our accredited lab technicians who are processing your COVID test).

We respect your privacy and we will never share your information outside of our organization, except in the event of a positive result.This is the law in Canada. As healthcare professionals, we respect your right to privacy. We will not market to you or upload your information to any third party.
